Briana & Devin || Engagement Photography || Jackson High School, Ohio

Smiles. Laughter. Blue Steel. Posed. More smiles. Candid. Romantic. More Laughter. Briana & Devin's engagement session was like a roller coaster of fun and emotion. We never knew when they were about to break into another laughing fit so we had to be ready at all times. :o) Their playfulness and energy was so easily captured because they kept their emotions right at the edge, ready to burst at any time, even during our periods of more formally posed and not-at-all-formal-but-still-posed moments like lying on ground in a delivery truck ramp. Basically, we enjoyed a beautiful sunny day, had a lot of fun and used our time to get to know each other while taking some great photos. Here are some of our favorite moments…

Oh yeah, they both attended Jackson High School. Hence the photo location...

Here's some sweetness...

And here's the fun...

We always love a good brick wall.

Briana & Devin, you were troopers. Thanks for going along with our whacky ideas. Love this one!

Like we said, SO CUTE and SO MUCH FUN!

No spring flowers yet, so we found some rust as an alternative.

It was such a gorgeous spring day, so of course, we had to get the classic sky shot...

And this is how you take pictures of trees in Ohio during April. Apparently something was funny about this! :o)

Oh how we love sunlight and couples who laugh easily...

We love the range of emotion between this image and the one above. These were taken about 5 seconds apart.

Briana said she wasn't sure what to do during her portraits, but we have the sneaky suspicion that she's been practicing for years because W - O - W. We ended with so many gorgeous portraits in just a few minutes of shooting. And like you see from the image above, total laughter to stunning intensity within seconds.

And here's us enjoying all the good times...

Just doing a few fashion tweaks. What can we say, we have an eye for detail.

The view from the ground during the sky shots...

The Making of a Ring Shot: Attempting to bring rust back as a glamorous color/texture...

We did a lot of laying on the ground during this session but it was sure worth it. We had such a good time with you guys and we really can't wait until your wedding day this August. Looking forward to another exciting and incredibly fun day!

Enjoy the photos!

Brittany & Justin || Engagement Photography || Western Reserve, Hudson, Ohio

We were so happy to start our season with a couple who was willing to brave a cold winter afternoon with us. Brittany and Justin were fabulous subjects and we were so happy looking through their photos after the session. No matter how unfamiliar our couples are with the process of being photographed, we always make it our top priority to create an environment where they can be themselves and forget about the cameras. What better way to look natural than when you're acting natural? Brittany and Justin were so comfortable with each other and really enjoyed their time together. Plus, we loved how Brittany's coat added such a welcome burst of color to the not-quite-spring-yet landscape. So here they are looking all cute and lovable...

Like we said, perfect choice for the coat. LOVE this one of you guys...

Just remember, there's always blue sky above, even when you can't quite see it...

Green & Red. We're thinking Christmas card for this year???

Love that ring design...

OK. Hold the phone. Woah! One of our favorites from the day right here, folks. Such a great image of a masculine guy keeping his girl warm and protected. You look stunning, Brittany. Adorable dimple too, Justin. And by the way, it was incredibly cold and we had Justin take his jacket off for a few photos. He was a trooper.

And a few of us. We always have the great privilege of wearing warmer and less stylish clothes than our couples, but that keeps us more creative.

What the view looks like during a sky shot...

The 'making of' scene from that great black & white image above...

We had a great time with you guys and can't wait for the wedding day! Enjoy the photos!

Wedding Photography 2014. Here we go again!

April is finally here! We are so excited to get back into the wedding season soon. We have so many amazing couples to work with this year and we can't wait to share all our new images with you guys as we travel through the weeks. We're going to be working harder than ever to create stunning images for every session and wedding that we shoot as we continue to define our style and expand the bounds of our art. We are committed to taking photos that are natural and real, placing our subjects and their emotions in the forefront of what is displayed and emphasized.

Our goal for the year is again to create intimate, romantic and emotionally powerful images that allow people to experience those specific and fleeting moments again. Photography is so powerful because even though you can never relive a day in your life, you are still able to experience the emotions of a moment by viewing photos that keep those memories fresh and alive forever. That is what we want for you, to view a photo and immediately be transported back to that event and time and be able to feel the joy, the tenderness and the contentment of those moments. That's a tall order, but we're up for the task!

And how do we capture those? First and foremost, by using the light. Light is where photography begins. We always have and will prefer to use the natural light for our images, which is why our images from one session to the next always look different and unique to each couples' day, because the light is always different. We have learned (and are always learning) how to use the light in the best way possible for each situation. Dull light, strong light, soft light, harsh light, almost no light. Ohio weather keeps us on our toes and forces us to be proactive when using the natural light, because it can change from one minute to the next, which produces images that truly capture the feel and context of a moment. We believe that flash is intrusive, distracting and reminds people that they are being photographed. This is why we choose to mainly shoot with natural light. It lets our subjects feel more relaxed, comfortable and natural. See the connection? Natural light. Natural poses. Natural reactions. We allow our subjects to be themselves and create an environment that promotes emotional responses. We love that our subjects collaborate with us to create art. It's an amazing experience for us and for them.

So that's a few words about how it's done. Along with all of that, we wanted to let you know that we have some great new ideas for the blog this year, which include more education for photographers and of course, tons of photos like always. So we hope you follow along! We'll see you back here soon.

And to finish it off, here's a few of our favorites from last year… Dramatic. Romantic. Funny. Natural. We tried to check all the boxes so enjoy a quick recap of what we love to capture.

And of course, we love working with each other, and taking pictures of each other, so here's a few favorites of us doing our thing…

Thanks for looking. We hope to see you here often and if we haven't already worked with you, we would love to do so in the future!
