Quyen & Zach || Ohio Wedding Photography || Akron, OH

Please take a seat. You'll want to enjoy these for a while. Not only because Quyen & Zach's day was full of gorgeous light and beautiful moments, but because this is an extra edition super extended blog post. There was no possible way to cut down these photos any more and still give you the proper experience of how much love, laughter and beauty filled their wedding day.

FYI, there is going to be a lot of talk concerning light in this post. Oh, beautiful bright cloudless sunlight. Oh, dark and difficult non-existent reception light. We love you both. Each poses a different challenge and we thrive on that as available light photographers. We always tell our clients that we've learned how to use any light because you never know what Ohio weather will give you. And once we're inside, we like to be as minimally intrusive as possible, so we keep the flash photography to a minimal, which is typically just during the wild dancing when no one cares anyway. :o)

One last comment before we proceed with this incredible day… Quyen & Zach told us from the beginning that they loved our work and wanted amazing photos on their wedding day. So what did they do? They gave us extra time to take photos in their schedule! We love when this happens and we always use every minute we're given to explore, experiment and give our clients as much variety as possible. Our style of shooting and ability to find natural moments requires time for the client to get comfortable in the environment that we place them in. Plus, we need to find the right light and create the environment before our couples even begin to enjoy it with each other. And that's what we photograph… Couples enjoying a few precious moments together during a hectic, overly organized marathon we call 'the wedding day'. So if you notice a ton of portraits in this post, it's because we had extended time to make more than usual. Are you ready for this? Then here we go…

This is Erica from Beauty Therapy putting the final touches on Quyen. We love working with her because our brides always look and feel fabulous once she's done. :o)

A few personal touch-ups too and a few bridesmaids to document the moment.

And up we go to the ceremony… Love this moment.

Hard to keep your eyes off of her, Zach?

Zach smiling at his Mom as they walked out.

Did I forget to lock my doll house when I left this morning? Love that face!

After the ceremony we headed to one of our favorite spots in downtown Akron.

Then it was our favorite time of the day… alone with the Bride & Groom. And OH WOW what a Bride!

Quyen doesn't have a bad side or bad angle, as you can see.

One of our favorite 'detail' shots.

Once Zach joined in on the fun it only got better. They couldn't stop smiling and when you mix that with a great environment and beautiful light then, well, it's just incredible to see.

Some photographers hide from the sunlight in the shade and then use a flash. We cringe when we see that. There is always amazing light anywhere at anytime. You just have to find it, see it and use it in the best way possible. When we shoot, we typically run toward the light. Or at least climb up to the top of parking garages to get closer to it. No reflectors. No flashes. No extra equipment. Just bright afternoon sunlight and a beautiful bride and this is what happens…

We can't get over how incredibly stunning this is, Quyen.

My view from above…

Christy's view from below…

Here's another one of those gorgeous ladies in case you couldn't see them well enough. The bridesmaid second from the left is Amy. Hi Amy! We shot her wedding last year where Quyen was one of her bridesmaids so it was fun to see them together again.

And there's a good looking group of guys.

There's always time for a few of these photos…

I saw this tree in the field before we took group photos and within two seconds I knew what this picture was going to be. We love how everything just glows in the late afternoon sunlight. I couldn't pick my favorite so you get to see three from this spot.

We finally headed back because it was almost PARTY TIME!

Quyen & Zach's reception was one of the darkest we've photographed so it gave Christy (who never uses a flash) a good challenge. She was pushing low shutter speeds and 6400 ISO for most of the night. If you have no idea what I just said, don't worry, because it doesn't matter anyway. As long as you can find moments and create the image you want, the gear and numbers don't really mean anything.

I typically don't include many dance photos in our blogs, but Quyen & Zach's reception was particularly rowdy and had great lights on the dance floor, so I spent some time trying to create images that captured the energy of the night.

I love these available light photos Christy snagged during the bouquet and garter toss. This is exactly what the light looked like in the room. We loved how all the colors and laser lights really added some energy to the photos.

This little guy even got in on the party!

A favorite from the day. Love the mood and feeling of this intimate moment.

And a few of us enjoying the sunlight…

#YOLO so you better take some really great photos!

Christy did a lot of smiling behind the camera…

Showing Quyen what her new profile picture will be…

Did I say how dark but colorful the room was?

This is probably the nerdiest #selfie we've ever taken but that's ok. We know we're cool.

Quyen & Zach, we can't explain to you how much we enjoyed photographing your day. You were so amazing to work with and you've been so kind through the whole process. We hope you'll love the photos for the rest of your life together and we can't wait to see some of them printed and in an album. We hope to see you again someday soon. Best wishes!

Thank you for visiting our blog!

Like always, please comment, share and pin the photos you love!
